Warcraft Campaign Milestone 1: Terrain

With preproduction completed, I was able to focus solely on creating.

Week one was a bit of a struggle, as I've never used the editor before. However, utilizing helpful websites like https://www.hiveworkshop.com/ and the many different YouTube tutorials, I was able to spend the week putting together a decent understanding of how everything interacts.

From what I've been able to read and see, currently, the Reforged version of Warcraft III does not have a play button for custom campaigns. That adds a few issues because I won't be able to see how some of the mechanics work in real-time, but I have been able to find plenty of workarounds. For example, it seems you have to play the game as "Worldedit" rather than as the user-designated player. The workaround was to just set the player's color to blue the moment the world instantiates, and the enemy team to red.

I did experiment with Blizzard campaign levels in the editor and they seem to have overcome each of these issues, but the forums don't seem to have any answers as to how.

Until then, I'll just make sure the level is crisp and ready to launch the moment Reforged is ready! That is why I spent a considerable amount of time learning the terrain and props as well, making sure the player always has something to look at, even during quiet moments.

Looking forward to blocking out the initial village next milestone!
