Spent some time rough drafting the tall enemy designs. I need it to stay with the feel of the rest of the game, but I still want them to feel alien and different. It’s kinda hard doing super unique shapes in pixel art (at least, for me) so I’m forced to make a few changes to better articulate what the player is supposed to be seeing. I think I’m just about done, but I want to clean it up and then add it to the game.

Another day spent on the tall enemy’s art. Gah! The trouble is, the better I start making him look, and the more and more exciting I think his uniform is.. The less close to the original idea he is. He’s supposed to be an eerie alien pirate, yet he’s turning out to be almost an enemy faction in a war. I’ll have to play with some colors and a slight swap between a coat or not, but I think I may leave him just because of how much I like his look. Maybe make that one the boss?

I managed to finish making the tall enemies how I like them. I think I’ll leave the coat on for a boss like I thought, because I think it looks pretty cool, but I left the regular troops with just two legs. After that, I played with the colors for a while to see what looked the best. There was a deep red I liked a bit better, but I think this silver-blue stands out against the background better and doesn’t obscure the enemy’s head. I popped them into the game and they look great!

With the creation of my company, Autumn’s Dawn, the name of Project Violet can now be released: Pilfered Liberty! Likewise, with almost everything about the game complete other than art and sound, it’s time to move onto patches 0.4.X. The last bit of coding was getting the splash screen for Autumn’s Dawn to appear after the Unity intro, so everything from here on is going to be art and sound. Once 0.4.X is complete I can go back to touching up everything here and there until I’m fully satisfied. I believe it behooves me to make achievements fall under 0.5.X because I want the game itself finished first.
