I couldn't do it. I spent the entire day. Hours and hours rooting through music and none of them hit just exactly what I was looking for. They were either too orchestrated or just basic chiptunes. There's nothing wrong with either, but it doesn't fit the feel at all. I really didn't want to do the music myself just because of time and talent, but after losing a day to searching, I think I just need to write it myself.

It's... not... bad. It's a little repetitive, but it's subtle enough that it just makes for decent ambiance. The shame is that I had a decent melody going, but using this software is taking me so long that it would take far too long to get an entire song's worth of melody out, and repeating one phrase over and over that was that particular would definitely stand out, and it would become very grating. It's really not that bad, and like the rest of the game I think it has a minimalist charm that I can live with. No playtester had mentioned it which is potentially a good sign.

Need a few more songs for winning and losing, but those can be jingles more than anything else. Losing is just a simple descending line of notes, and winning is a brief uplifting stinger. I really don't think it needs to be much more complicated than that, so I'm happy with it. There are more pressing things to start working on, so I need to start setting my focus on finishing the game and adding audio.

As a side tangent, I'm very surprised how quickly the Steam page is getting recognition. No, it's not hundreds of thousands of wishlists, but I honestly expected it to disappear entirely. Typically tweets about the game get 30-40 reactions of some sort, but the steam page and any announcement about it actually coming out quite literally get 0. I had assumed that meant I wouldn't get any, but it seems to be gently growing from who-knows-where. If you're someone who has wishlisted this, I very much appreciate the support!
